• Antifreeze
• Cooking Oil

• Disposing of oil in lakes, streams and wetlands
• Spreading oil to suppress dust or kill weeds
• Burning oil outdoors

The Law The TN Used Oil Collection Act of 1993, enacted to prevent the mismanagement of used oil, Make it unlawful (except under strictly specified conditions of a valid permit) for any person to discharge used oil where it may harm the environment. Violation of the laws is a Class C Misdemeanor (T>C>A>68-211-1016).   

REMEMBER Oil drained from your car is a valuable resource when properly recycled. Recycling used oil can conserve our nation’s natural resources. Used oil can be re-fined and purified into high quality motor oil. Recycling used oil can save consumers money. Improper disposal of used oil can contaminate
the soil as well as surface and ground water.  

When Used Oil is Recycled It Recovers a Valuable Resource Used oil can be collected and refined. Refined oil is as good, or even better, a lubricant than new oil. Out of a 42-gallon barrel of crude oil, you can get only 2 ½ quarts of motor oil. It takes only one gallon of used motor oil to get the same 2-½ quarts.
